Taylor Swift, Adele win big at American Music Awards

Los Angeles - Taylor Swift and Adele won three awards apiece Sunday night at the American Music Awards, where Swift was named artist of the year.
Swift, 21, also won for favourite female country singer and favourite country album, while Adele, 23, won for favourite rock/pop album, as well as prizes for favourite rock/pop female artist and favourite adult contemporary artist.
Other winners included Nikcki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Beyonce plus Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5. Katy Perry was given a special award of achievement for being the first woman ever to score five Number 1 hits from a single album.
