It was supposed to be a night filled with music and good times, but tonight the windy weather was to blame as an outdoor concert stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair Saturday just minutes before the country music duo Sugarland was set to perform.
According to FOX news, The band Suglarland was set to go on the outdoor stage when 60 mile-per-hour winds took it down around 9 p.m. Saturday.
"We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you'll join us. They need your strength," the band used Twitter to relay their distress.
So far four people have been reported dead, with scores more injured and trapped.
David Lindquist, music critic for the Indianapolis Star, tweeted: "Tragedy at fair concert. Entire stage collapses on track."
He also tweeted: "Perhaps a dozen injured people have been removed from track on stretcher-type boards."
The Hoosier Lottery Grandstand at the state fairgrounds seats 15,000 people.
Authorities said a news conference was scheduled shortly to provide more details.
