Singer songwriter Kristen Hall left the trio Sugarland to pursue her solo career in 2005, leaving her bandmates Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles to continue as a duo.
Now, a $14 million dollar lawsuit later, as the remaining duo Sugarland settled a lawsuit with Hall who claimed she was cut out of some of the group's recording profits.
Hall had filed a federal lawsuit against Sugarland (Bush and Nettles) two years ago demanding one third of Sugarland's profits because of her founding role and being instrumental in creating their huge hit debut album in 2004.
CNN reported that U.S. District Judge Timothy Batten signed an order last week recognizing the settlement, although terms of the agreement were sealed. Lawyers have until December 13 to file the final papers or else Hall has the right to re-open the lawsuit, the order said.
Grammy winning Sugarland took the Country Music Association Vocal Duo of the Year award last week. In their new video “Stuck Like Glue,” the first single from “Incredible Machine” sees Nettles and partner Kristian Bush on a road trip with NBC's “Chuck” Captain Awesome, Ryan McPartlin.
