Lady Gaga earns record 13 nominations for MTV Video Music Awards

Los Angeles - The MTV Video Music Awards cannot get enough of controversial singer Lady Gaga. The spectacular performer earned a record 13 nominations for the top awards show in the music video world - easily bearing out the second most-popular artist, Eminem, who earned eight nods.
Gaga's hits, Bad Romance and Telephone, were both nominated for Video of the Year, along with Florence + The Machine's Dog Days Are Over, Kings and Queens by 30 Seconds To Mars, and Eminem's Not Afraid.
Teenage sensation Justin Bieber was nominated in the Best New Artist category, along with Kesha, Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj and Broken Bells.
'I'm so honoured for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,' Lady told the music channel. 'A long time ago, the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard. Together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!'
The awards will be presented on September 12 in Los Angeles and fans can go to vma.mtv.com to vote for the winners.
