Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has written and recorded a new song, “Better Days,” for the upcoming Julia Roberts film Eat, Pray, Love – inspired by the bestselling memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Vedder’s “Better Days” has been added to the film’s soundtrack which is described as a mix of classic rock, soul, world music and bossa nova.
The soundtrack features tunes from Neil Young, Marvin Gaye, Sly & the Family Stone, Bebel and Joao Gilberto, and Josh Rouse with original score composed by Dario Marianelli (Atonement, V for Vendetta, The Soloist).
Vedder’s earlier work with late, Pakistani artist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, “The Long Road” is also a featured track on the soundtrack
The release of “Better Days” follows Vedder’s Golden Globe Award winning, and Grammy Award nominated, soundtrack for the Sean Penn directed film Into the Wild.
Released on Monkeywrench Records/Madison Gate Records, the original motion picture soundtrack for Eat, Pray, Love is available NOW in stores and online. Retail partners include iTunes, Starbucks, independent music retail stores, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com and Pearl Jam’s own Ten Club at www.pearljam.com.
