Adam Lambert debuts new video for “If I Had You”

American Idol alum Adam Lambert aired the video for his new single “If I Had You” on VH1.com and AdamOfficial.com today and will be on the road all summer with “The Glam Nation Tour” – his first headlining tour.

The video for “If I Had You” was shot overnight near Los Angeles' Griffith Park in early May and directed by Bryan Barber (Outkast, Christina Aguilera). It featured Lambert and cast of wildly dressed dancers and friends frolicking in the wilderness.

The video’s concept was reportedly inspired by Lambert's experience at the Burning Man festival nearly five years ago, and is a tribute to a counter-culture of underground designers, performance artists and various bohemians who have influenced Lambert.

In a press release, Lambert stated: "In addition to the fantastic beat and melody, the song's lyrics are what really stand out to me about this uplifting jam. It explores all the glitz of life in celebrity culture but reveals how it can all be a facade without true connectivity to others. The message is one of Love. Over the past year, in addition to my unbelievable opportunities, I have also been faced with the unique challenge of staying positive in light of some critics and closed mindedness. My friends, family, and my devoted fans have been a key force in keeping me grounded. I wanted to make a video that paid tribute to the wonderful people who’ve inspired me to become the artist and spirit I am today."

Lambert's album ‘For Your Entertainment’ (19 Entertainment / RCA Records) has sold more than 600,000 copies since making it's debut at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in November. The album's hit single "Whataya Want From Me" (written by Pink and Max Martin) gave Lambert his first #1 hit on the Billboard charts, topping the Hot Singles Sales survey as well as Hot Dance Singles Sales chart.
 
Opening for Lambert on "The Glam Nation Tour" will be 25-year-old guitarist Orianthi and, on select shows fellow Season 8 "American Idol" finalist Allison Iraheta.
