The Constellations to release ‘Southern Gothic’ and hit the road

The Constellations are set to release their EMI's Virgin Records debut studio album ‘Southern Gothic’ on June 8th. To support the release, the band will hit the road for tour that will keep them crossing the country from February to April. There are also plans to head to the UK for a five night residency in London in March.

Coming out of the Atlanta music scene, the band’s first studio album was produced by Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley), and features guest appearances by Cee-Lo and Asher Roth. Fans can get a free sneak peek of what to expect through a free mp3 download of the album's opening track "Setback" that the band is giving away at their website.

‘Southern Gothic’ is described as the story of what happens in The Constellations' Atlanta stomping grounds afterhours - a spectacle rife with seedy scenes and eccentric personalities, and propelled by a manic energy that hustles the audience deeper into the unexpected.

The band’s frontman and singer Elijah Jones serves as the album’s tour guide and leader of the twisted circus that is The Constellations - who spent two years writing and recording the album with producer Ben H. Allen.

In a press release, Jones stated: "Atlanta is strange because we're all basically pushed together."

The album reflects the way Atlanta’s music scene blends hip-hop, punk rock, and indie musical genres. The band's name refers to the myriad musicians from the regional scene who either contributed to making the album or have since played in The Constellations live band.

Guest on the album includes Cee-Lo (who added a verse to "Love Is A Murder"), and rapper Asher Roth (who provides rhymes to "We're Here To Save The Day"). The album also features a bit of the funk sound on "Felicia" and the track "Step Right Up (A Tribute To Tom Waits)."
