Glee’s Matthew Morrison has signed on with Mercury Records and is expected to hit the recording studio to start work on his debut album – which is scheduled for a release this fall.
Morrison handles the role of high school Spanish teacher Glee club director Will Schuester on Fox’s mega-hit series Glee and has been nominated for a Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy Golden Globe award for his performance this season.
He also appeared at the 32nd annual Kennedy Center Honors - where he performed “Springtime For Hitler” from the Broadway musical The Producers, in tribute to honoree Mel Brooks.
Morrison studied musical theatre, vocal performance and dance at New York University’s renowned Tisch School of the Arts, and his first major Broadway performance was as heartthrob Link Larkin in Hairspray. He received a nomination for a Tony Award for his role in The Light in the Piazza and a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical for 10 Million Miles.
Along with his breakout performance on Glee, Morrison has been keeping busy with the Tony Award-winning revival of South Pacific at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York. His big screen credits include Dan In Real Life, I Think I Love My Wife, and Music And Lyrics.
