The song was hand-picked by music industry veterans Clive Davis and Leona Lewis' svengali Simon Cowell as a single for Lewis, becoming a # 1 song in both the US and worldwide.
McCartney performed "Leavin'" - from his album Departure too.
The ASCAP Awards honor the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP's most performed pop songs of 2008. McCartney notes, "Being recognized by ASCAP is a great honor as a songwriter, and I am very grateful for this award. The success of this song would not have been possible without Leona's stunning vocals and amazing approach."
McCartney is the leader in the pop/R&B hybrid music genre. Re-entering the studio late last year, McCartney recorded several new songs and he decided to release Departure: Recharged earlier this month, which features four new tracks and a hot remix of "How Do You Sleep?" featuring Grammy winner rapper and actor, Ludacris.
McCartney performed his new single "How Do You Sleep?" on "Live with Regis & Kelly." Two weeks later, Ludacris joined Jesse on stage for a performance of the song's remix at "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
