Springsteen just released his 24th studio album, ‘Working on a Dream,’ and his performance follows rapper Jay-Z spot as last year’s Saturday headliner – which caused a bit of controversy over raps place at the music festival.
Festival planner Michael Eavis has stated: "I'm so pleased that Bruce Springsteen has agreed to come to Worthy Farm for the first time. He's one of the all-time rock legends. I'm confident that this will be one of our best shows ever."
The Glastonbury Festival could also see some other big acts with Neil Young and Blur rumored to be headlining the other two days of the show. Franz Ferdinand is also scheduled to take the big stage on Saturday night.
The rock icon’s performance also continues the festival moving away from bands like Coldplay, Oasis and Radiohead for more stadium style draws – like Jay-Z.
Springsteen’s stop at Glastonbury will be part of the singer’s world tour – which includes a performance at London’s Hard Rock Calling show on Sunday, June 28th. Glastonbury tickets have already sold out, but a limited number of cancelled tickets will go on sale April 5th.
