Amy Winehouse keeps fans waiting due to wet grass

Amy Winehouse was nearly an hour late on stage at a UK music festival because she refused to get her feet wet.

The 24-year-old singer arrived 45 minutes late for her performance at Bestival on Saturday (06.09.08) - held on the Isle of Wight - because she didn't want to walk on the soaked grass.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Amy arrived at 9pm and refused to get out of the car. She screeched, 'I'm not standing in that f***ing mud until somebody dries the grass.' "

Reports say that after Amy was coaxed out of the car, she started to drink a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey, before promptly collapsing and being helped to her feet by her six minders.

When she finally took to the stage, Amy was met with boos from the rain-soaked crowd.

However, she won over revellers with heartfelt renditions of 'Love is a Losing Game' and 'Back to Black'.

Amy was flanked by a backing band dressed as sailors - in keeping with the festival's Under the Sea theme - but her set was seemingly cut short, ending with 'Rehab' and 'Valerie'.

The source added: "She changed songs halfway through, saying 'Switch to 'Rehab', faster, faster. We have got one song left but I know you aren't that bothered'. "

Bestival was Amy's last scheduled show of the summer.

She is now expected to continue working on her as-yet-untitled third album.
