Duffy is set to hit the road for her first headlining tour of the U.S. – kicking off on Oct. 9th in San Diego, CA. The tour will also have the singer opening for Coldplay for some of the band’s U.S. arena shows. Duffy is also expected to appear on CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman on Sept. 4th and at the Fashion Rocks 5th Annual All-Star Concert Broadcast on CBS.
‘Rockferry’ (released May 13th) debuted Top 5 in Billboard on first week sales over 70,000 units – Soundscan’s highest entry for a UK solo artist in the history of the Universal Music Group. In June, ‘Rockferry’ became the first and only “new” album (under two months old) in the chart’s Top 30 to be certified RIAA gold for U.S. sales in excess of 500,000 copies.
From a press release: As her RIAA gold, worldwide over 3 million-selling debut album ‘Rockferry’ enters its 4th month on the Billboard 200, containing the back-to-back hit singles “Mercy” and “Warwick Avenue” – Mercury Records artist Duffy wraps up a busy schedule on the North American, UK, and European summer music festival circuit, and looks ahead to the fall.
She will return to the U.S. next month appearing on CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman, Thursday, September 4th, followed the next night by the taping of the all-star “Fashion Rocks” 5th annual concert at Radio City Music Hall, the opening event of Fashion Week in New York. (The concert will air on the CBS, September 9th, 9:00 p.m. Eastern/ 8:00 p.m. Central) One month later on October 9th in San Diego, Duffy will open her first major headline tour of North America, which will include shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Seattle, Chicago, New York City, and Foxwoods in Connecticut. Duffy will also open a series of major arena shows for Coldplay starting October 21st in Cleveland, including dates in New Jersey, Boston, Washington DC, and Philadelphia Currently on the August cover of SPIN magazine, Duffy is in her 3rd month as a VH1 “You Oughta Know” artist, while “Warwick Avenue” enters the VH1 Top 20 Countdown last week at #17. Clear Channel Online Music & Radio has supported Duffy from the beginning of her career, spotlighting her as Featured Artist in their NEW program in June and July, and adding her to the roster of artists for their live performance series, Stripped. Duffy has also performed “Interface” for AOL and was featured as Yahoo Who’s Next.
“Warwick Avenue” builds on the success of Duffy’s first U.S. single “Mercy,” which hit #1 on iTunes and Amazon. On TV in 2008, “Mercy” was heard everywhere, from the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy to episodes of ER and Smallville, to promo spots of Moonlight and Women’s Murder Club.
In addition to being available online and in traditional retail stores, the album is available at Starbucks company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada.
