Britney Spears picks up a Best Female Video Nominee for 'Piece of Me'

Pop star and tabloid queen Britney Spears has been announced as the first nominee for this year's 2008 MTV Video Music Awards with a nod for her hit single "Piece of Me."
The Spears video was selected by MTV viewers who chose the singer with three other top female artists to represent the Best Female Video category. The vote was conducted through an online vote at vma.mtv.com.
Rumors have also started to hit the web that the singer might perform at the annual awards show, but MTV has yet to confirm or deny the performance.
The remaining Best Female Video as well as Best Male Video nominees will be announced today (Friday, July 25) at 8pm ET/PT on FN'MTV Premieres - MTV's new music video series hosted by Pete Wentz.
Music fans can continue to cast their votes for the next 4-weeks at vma.mtv.com for VMA categories including Best Hip Hop Video, Best Pop Video, Best Rock Video, Best New Artist, Video of the Year, and more.
The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on September 7th and will be hosted by British comedian Russell Brand.
