Duffy’s “Rockferry” debut hits Gold
By Patrick Luce Jul 14, 2008, 17:05 GMT

In its 8th week on the Billboard 200, Duffy’s debut album “Rockferry” from Mercury Records has become the first and only “new” album in the chart’s Top 30 to be certified RIAA gold for U.S. sales in excess of 500,000 copies.
The award builds on the singer and album’s pas success thanks to her hit first U.S. single “Mercy,” (which hit #1 on iTunes and Amazon). “Mercy” is now in its 9th week on the Hot 100.
The two “Mercy” videos have amassed mega-numbers on YouTube – the UK version with more than 14 million views, and the U.S. version over 3 million. The video stays in heavy rotation on VH1and FUSE.
Duffy is also a “You Oughta Know” artist on VH1 through July. Clear Channel Online Music & Radio has also thrown its support behind the Welsh singer, spotlighting her as a Featured Artist in their NEW program in June and July, adding Duffy to the roster of artists filmed for their live performance series Stripped.
Duffy has also performed "Interface" for AOL and was featured as Yahoo Who's Next. Duffy can also been seen gracing the cover of the August issue of SPIN Magazine.
Duffy first arrived in North America in March, and will return on July 31st to kick off at First Avenue in Minneapolis. The 8-city trip will wrap up on August 9th at the Virgin Mobile Festival at Pimlico Race Course outside Baltimore.
Since the spring, Duffy has played a small – but extremely high-profile – number of live concert dates in the U.S., including the SXSW Music & Film Conference in Austin, Texas, New York’s Hiro Ballroom on St. Patrick’s Day, the giant Coachella Festival in the California desert, the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, and L.A.’s El Rey Theatre.
Highlighted by England’s prestigious Glastonbury this past weekend, Duffy is currently on a whirlwind tour of European festival and concert dates through mid-July in Stockholm, Norway, Amsterdam, Denmark, Belgium, Wales, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, London, and Brittany.
After the North American schedule, Duffy immediately returns to the UK for V Festival dates in Chelmsford and Staffordshire, Ireland’s Electric Picnic festival, and Scotland’s Hydro Collect Festival.
