Boyzone's groupie gripe
May 31, 2008, 6:00 GMT
Boyzone never had groupies when touring in the 90s.
The reformed Irish boy band said that despite their huge fan base when they were at their most successful from 1993 to 2000, they never took groupies backstage.
The quintet - Ronan Keating, Steven Gately, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch - also revealed they don't worry about possibility of running into old conquests on their current reunion tour.
Keith said: "The security teams that we employed used to tell us that Take That had girls queuing up outside the door, and we thought we were doing something wrong, because we never had any of that."
Most of the Irish group, who are now all into their thirties, have children.
Steven came out as gay under media pressure in 1999, shortly before the group went their separate ways.
Boyzone are planning to release a new single and album this year, after the completion of their UK tour, which is running throughout May and June.
