Eric Clapton could perform in North Korea - reports says

London - British rock guitarist Eric Clapton has been invited to perform in Pyongyang next year as part of North Korea's current efforts to build cultural bridges to the outside world, the Financial Times reported Tuesday. 'We want our music to be understood by the western world and we want our people to understand western music,' the unnamed official was reported as saying. The invitation was linked to the planned visit to London of the North Korean State Symphony Orchestra in London this summer. A performance by Clapton would be notable because rock and pop are banned in North Korea because of their western influences. The news comes as the New York Philharmonic gave an historic debut performance in Pyongyang.
