How can Tina claim she has has 'no contact' with Ike Turner for over 35 years? Thirty five years ago would have been 1972. Clearly, they were still married and performing together until 1976. Perhaps she meant 25 years, not 35.

I can completely relate to Tina's not wanting to participate in Ike's funeral services. My relationship with my ex was very similar and if he were to drop dead in my front yard tomorrow it would not alter my plans for shopping and lunch that afternoon.

I totally understand why she is not going to the funeral. Why should she go? If that had been Tina you know Ike would not go. Rock on Tina you are the best. I can not wait for your comeback.

She should have attended the funeral. Ike discovered Tina - whether you like it or not she owes her career or at least start in the business to him. Furthermore they had children together. And thirdly, he's one of the pioneers of Rock and Roll and R&B. After all that time, she should have been able to forgive and show a little forgiveness.

just because she isn't showing up to his funeral , doesn't mean that she hasn't forgiven him.

Tina should have enough respect to attend the funeral of her ex-husband.
Ike is the father of some of her children. God forgives and forgets
what if God treated us the way he act toward others. The man is dead
what else can he do to her or anybody. She should go to support her
children. He's their father and I'm sure they love him so that should
be good enough reason to go. If he did not get what he did right with
God before he left this earth he has made his bed in hell. We don't
need to get revenge thats God's job.

Tina does not have to attend her ex-husband funeral if she chooses not to do so..

She has moved on and made a comeback.. Tina girl, handle your business and keep stepping with your bad self!

I can not relate to anything that Tina endured while married to Ike but I can attest to the emotional scars that will last forever. Physical wounds can heal and disappear from the eye but what do you do when someone has scarred your soul. That will never go away. As far as Im concerned, his dying is the best thing he could have done for her and her children. If I were her I would attend the funeral for one reason only and that would be to make sure that they put his black tail in the ground.

Tina didn't even attend her own mother's funeral. Why do you think she'd go to Ike's?

When did grade school kids comment here (the last commenter)! Or at least it reads like someone who doesn't have much education!! Anyway - I think whether Tina attends Ike's funeral is her own personal decision. We aren't in on her private life and don't know all the circumstances. As far as going in respect to her children - how do we know that they also agree with her?? EOS

I think people ought to stop judgeing tina and just pray for her 'ike's childrens and his other family and close friends he left behind. Believe me i'm no ike turner fan I detest mens who beat up on womens that's really not a man it's a punk. I was in a abusive relationship 25 yrs ago by the grace of god I got out of it after 7 years even though he told me years later how sorry he was and he showed remorse whenever i would see himat various functions I'm a gospel singer and sung at a lot of his family funerals when I would see him in spite of me finally forgiving I gave him up to the lord to take care of. (I'Dd still have those flash backs when I would see him ) I understand what tina is going through WE don't know are not if she's fogiven him or not but if she hasn't i can say to her from experience haterd and bitterness only hurt you in the long run it eats on you physically and emotionally. You have to let go and let god i'm telling you god will punish whom ever wrong you. the guy who I was in the abusive relationship with died last year 2006 and I was able to go and be at his funeral at the request of his family. But i'll tell you this when I looked down at him in his casket all the pain he caused me came flooding back to my mind . We have to forgive in order to see god in peace. Believe me tina he sufferd for what he done to you look how your career flourished while his went down thr toliet. he didn't get his 1st Grammy till a few month before he died. I'm praying for the whole turner family including tina. I respect her decision everybody can't do like I did but then again my mate showed remorsed I've never known ike to and that makes all the difference in the world.Ike I hope you made your peace with god. Remembering you all in my prayers for along time!

Ike Turner was a Black Man born in a racist society. Whether he was ever
married to Tina isn't as important as his contributions. Were he White he
would have been described as 'troubled' or some other adjective suggesting
insensitivity. Instead he was labeled as vicious, cruel, and ignorant.
While alive did the media ever have a heart-to-heart conversation with
this man? Moreover, if Tina couldn't have made money for the recording
moguls, this would have been just another unnoticed story. As far as not attending his funeral, She should be ashamed. Why? Because all this crap
about moving on, she has moved on to where? The dignity of paying respects
to a former spouse, especially when they have natural children together,
should have been essential. Ms. Turner, I have loved you as a woman and an
entertainer. But for a Southern country girl, with the values you were
given as a child, you should have attended. I have been married before and
if my former wife dies, I would feel obligated to attend. The ethnic
implications of not attending reinforce the negative stereotyping of Ike
(another Black Man). Why don't we examine Tina and probe her for what she
may have done? Being in the music industry, and especially that old R&B
circuit, who knows what corners she may have cut. Look what kinds of parts
Haley Beery and Denzel Washington had to play to receive awards. This
whole notion exceeds Ike Turner unless you want to buy into ongoing
ignorance. May God give Ike peace and tranquility and his spirit be
commended into a blessed immortality.

I guess it's her choice. It's sad that everything about them is being based on her side of the story. I'm sure there was more to the story. Where or who would she be without him? It would be nice of her to acknowledge his role in her fame.

Tina Turner should have attended Ike Turner funeral. He gave her a great start when no one else would. She stayed long enough to learn the business, then she took off. Sometimes we all have to forgive. Black people needs to learn.

Tina Turner you are about to learn your true friends, if o had a popular show 30 years ago Tina would not been a guest, if IKE TURNER abused you the way that you claimed you would not look as good as you do now.

Although it it hard for some people to forgive and forget, there comes a time in your life where no matter what the situation you have to move forward. It only eats away at you. Move past the ABUSE Tina. After all Christ forgave you.

well first of all it is not nothing but a thing. If he loved tina so much he would have not do the things he did to her thats the first thing about love. Can't nobody make decision for Tina, She chooses what she wants to do and how to do it. So Tina keep on moving on. You make the decision not the world.

Yeah I feel sorry for Tina and all she had to go through with him. May his soul rott in hell for all eternity. Don't nobody forgive woman beaters. If I was Tina I wouldn't forgive him for nothing. Because he made her life a living hell. She put her through a lot of shit. But she is a strong black lady and I look up to her because of who she is and how she lived to tell her story. I love you Tina.

Tina's not attending Ike's funeral was acceptable to her. Only Tina (and those close to her), know the true reasons why she did not attend. A person doesn't necessarily have to physically attend a funeral to have closure and peace. Everyone should keep this in mind. And, if you have not been through what she has been through, it would be very wise not to judge or speculate on either of them.

Thanks to the smart ones talking about what she should and should not do, just because she didn't want to go to his funeral dosen't mean nothing. That lady don't have to go to that man funeral she don't oh him nothing and that dosen't mean that she don't forgive him or that she don't have no hurt or feelings, i wouldn't have attended it either, hell i'll say a prayer at home and give all my kids sympathy when they get home.

Until you have walked a mile in her shoes, you cannot understand her actions. For my part, I don't think she needs to attend a funeral of a man who harmed her and his own children so badly and whom she hasn't seen or spoken with for nearly 30 years. Race has nothing to do with it as there are men from every race who abuse drugs and alcohol and hurt those who love them. She is certainly one amazingly strong woman, and an example that steel withstands the test of fire.

Some people just don't go to funerals, I myself have been to so many funerals that I stopped going. I will send my respects but I would not go to the funerals, even if it was my own mother, and my family is aware of this. I feel that Tina Turner may be the same way, for what ever reason she did not go that is on here. God knows her heart, as he knows mine.

First of all evry with there comments stating Tina should have went to ike's funeral. It's her decision whether if she should have went or not! Tina decides not the world.I don't blame Tina fo4r not going....I most likely would not have went either if i were in the same boats that she's in.And another thing just because Tina didn't go to ike's funeral does not mean she didn't forgive him....With all do with respect i am not a fan of ike , i do give him props for making Tina who she is today ....And im not a fan of ike just because he abused her , it's just the simple fact that he has no Respect for Women.. I mean some of songs is bomb but come on now .... I Love U Tina !!!!! Do You!
