Beyoncé Knowles is set to release a country album.
The singer is shedding her R'n'B roots to experiment with a new sound following the success of her live reworked performance of 'Irreplaceable' with country band Sugarland in Los Angeles last weekend.
A source said: "Beyoncé wants to try something completely different.
"She is a big fan of country music and thought that would be an interesting and exciting way to go.
"She tested the waters at the American Music Awards last weekend and she is up for it."
Beyoncé is keen to team up with award-winning singer-songwriter Amanda Ghost on the new tracks.
The pair have already enjoyed chart success together. Amanda wrote 'Beautiful Liar', which was recorded by Beyoncé and Shakira earlier this year.
She also penned James Blunt's hit single 'You're Beautiful'.
The source added: "Beyoncé contacted Amanda early this week and she is going over to work with her on it.
"She is very excited. Country is still hugely popular in the States.
"Combined with Beyoncé's popularity, this could be absolutely huge."

I agree with the previous comment. I'm a big Beyonce fan, but I just don't think that's something she'd do well. If this goes through, I doubt I'd buy the album.

Beyonce is alot of things. A country singer is not one of them. If Beyonce goes country I honestly doubt it would be sucessful at all. It least not as much as her first two studio albums. If she does a couple songs with a country feel to it. Thats fine. Not a whole album.
