With three awards each, former “Idols” Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood were the big winners at Monday’s American Music Awards.

Daughtry took home awards for favorite pop-rock album (‘Daughtry’), breakthrough artist and adult contemporary artist. Underwood claimed awards for favorite female country artist, country album (‘Some Hearts’), and the T-Mobile text-in award.
Pop king Justin Timberlake (who wasn’t at the event) took home the favorite male pop-rock artist and soul/R&B album category for ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds.’ Troubled rapper T.I. picked award for male artist and for his album ‘T.I. vs. T.I.P.’ Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Akon, and Rihanna also took home awards during the evening.
The award show featured performances from Celine Dion, Daughtry, Duran Duran, Mary J. Blige, Rascal Flatts, Jonas Brothers, and Queen Latifa. There was also a special performance from Beyonce singing a “country” version her hit "Irreplaceable" with country duo Sugarland.
