Oslo - Hollywood stars Uma Thurman and Tommy Lee Jones are to co-host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert, organizers said Wednesday.

Oslo - Hollywood stars Uma Thurman and Tommy Lee Jones are to co-host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert, organizers said Wednesday. © Lee Roth / RothStock / PR PhotosAmong acts slated to perform at the December 11 concert were Alicia Keys, Melissa Etheridge, Annie Lennox, Colombian rock musician Juanes, Scottish-born singer KT Tunstall, Earth Wind & Fire, Pakistani rock band Junoon and Morten Harket of the Norwegian pop group A-Ha. The concert is held the day after the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony where the 2007 co-winners, former US vice president Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), were due to accept their awards. Gore and the UN climate panel were lauded for highlighting the impact of man-made climate change and how to tackle it. Jones, who won an Oscar for best supporting actor in The Fugitive, is a longtime friend of Gore. The two were roommates at Harvard University. Thurman, nominated for an Academy Award for her part in Pulp Fiction, 'brings iconic style and substance to the event,' Norwegian Nobel Committee Secretary Geir Lundestad said. The peace prize is one of the prizes created by Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite.
