Kylie Minogue is "heartbroken" after cancelling her world tour over health fears.

The '2 Hearts' singer, who has overcome breast cancer, has shelved concert plans to celebrate her 40th birthday next year after being advised by doctors such a gruelling schedule could have a detrimental effect on her health.

Kylie said: "The tour is not going to happen, it is far too soon. I can't do it next year. It kind of breaks my heart because that is what I'm in this business for.

"Not being able to go ahead with my plans is a real downer.

"Every woman has to face up to new priorities, near the top is health. I take my health very seriously but not obsessively. Everything is about pacing yourself."

Kylie - who was forced to postpone her 'Showgirl' tour when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005 - is now accepting she has to put her health before her career.

The diminutive star had planned to team up with good friend and designer William Baker to ensure her concerts - which would have kicked-off just days after she reached 40 on May 28 - were as spectacular as possible.

William recently said: "I am heading back into the studio with Kylie in February to start training for the tour we want to do in June. It's going to be fabulous."

Kylie's management company Warner Music insist the tour was never definitely going ahead, and have revealed the star is busy preparing for the release of her new album 'X' later this month.

Warner Music spokeswoman Kylie Martin said: "Any rumours of a tour in 2008 are untrue to start with and that's come from her management.

"At the moment we're concentrating on the release of her album. I'm not sure what her plans are after that. When we know what she's doing in 2008 we'll let everyone know."
