Boyzone reform

Nov 5, 2007, 12:30 GMT

Boyzone are set to reform for a reunion tour.

The five-piece Irish boy band are getting back together, after seven years apart, for a special performance of their greatest hits for BBC's TV charity appeal Children in Need and hope to follow that up with a string of live shows.

Lead singer Ronan Keating said: "After all the speculation we are getting back together and we are very excited.

"We have been talking about it for a while now and decided to go out there on our own and have a go at it.

"At this stage all we have planned is to perform for Children in Need and we are thinking about doing a tour."

The group - who were inspired to reunite after watching the success of Take That's comeback tour and album - are not working on any new material as yet.

Ronan added: "We haven't got any plans to release a new album but we will see what happens. And we haven't signed a record deal with anyone."

Ronan, 30, also insisted he and his bandmates - Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham, Stephen Gately and Keith Duffy - have put any "bad feeling" behind them after he pursued a successful solo career which resulted in the disbanding of the group in 2000.

He added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I've thoroughly enjoyed being back together with the lads, and even though there was some bad feeling about what has happened in the past, all that's gone now."

Boyzone - who were formed by music mogul Louis Walsh in 1993 - sold a staggering 15 million albums worldwide and amassed an impressive six UK number one singles during their seven-year career.
