Bono on BlairNov 2nd, 2007 - 17:15:01

Bono wasn't the only one to feel - 'Whoops!' when the 'shock and awe' business started. But in the end Bono understands that there is a threat. That's better than many do.

As for whether Mr Blair wanted to avoid the Neville Chamberlain error - well, maybe. But I really do not think it is as simple as one thing. The Middle East is a cauldron of ancient feuds where Saddam had repeatedly laid waste to neighbouring states and even his own people, (Kurds with WMDs.)

It's easy for all of us with hindsight, and I'm sure Tony Blair is his own worst critic, to say 'it's all gone wrong; those innocent people are dying; it might never have happened if we hadn't gone in.' But there would have come a day when Saddam or someone like him (Ahmadinejad in Iran?) would move to rule the roost.

We in the west can all sit back and let them fight it out if we want to. We've done that for years. A lot of good that's done. But today with Islamist militant suicide terrorists spreading their 'message' worldwide, and unstable states acquiring nuclear capabilities, I say thank God for people like Blair who are willing to lay their reputation on the line. And now, working in the Middle East, perhaps his life too.

Bono knows that Tony Blair is a good man. He's worked with him on Africa enough to know that.

Blair was the one in the hot seat at the time. I often wonder if Brown or Cameron would have done any differently.

I have a blog in support of Tony Blair. If you're interested Google 'Keep Tony blair for PM' - (sorry, can't change the url now.)

SP4: Blair was right...Nov 2nd, 2007 - 23:31:08

...better to look wrong than weak. Then again...

Saddam is gone - good news no matter who you are

Over 500 WMD's were found - regardless of wht the liberal press says.

We took on the insurgents and won all the battles.

Libya is non-nuclear

N. Korea is dealing...

No, I like this Blair guy. When he's done, send him to the USA!
