Sugababes' album nerves

Sep 19, 2007, 6:48 GMT

The Sugababes are "very nervous" about their new album.

The girl group - Keisha Buchanan, Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range - are convinced their upcoming LP, 'Change', could make or break them.

Keisha - the group's last remaining original member - said: "We're just going day by day really. We obviously had a lot to prove with the departure of Mutya and Amelle coming in, some people did say a few negative things so we are very, very nervous."

Joint founding member Mutya Buena quit the band in December 2005, saying she wanted to devote more time to her baby daughter Tahlia-Maya.

Shortly after the Sugababes revealed her replacement, Mutya announced she was launching a solo career.

Despite her nerves, Amelle insists she is extremely proud of the new record, due out on October 8.

She said: "I'm really nervous as it's the first album the girls have made with me from scratch. But I'm really proud of what we have done. We've written a hell of a lot on this album, and I've got a lot off my chest."

It was recently claimed Keisha and Heidi were planning to kick Amelle out of the group because of her turbulent private life, which includes being arrested over an alleged assault in April and standing by on/off boyfriend Freddie Fuller after he was accused of raping Amelle's younger sister Samiya.

All charges against Freddie were dropped in September due to a lack of evidence.

However, a spokesman for the band denied the reports, saying: "Contrary to speculation Amelle is not leaving the Sugababes. There have been no auditions for a new band member."
