50 Cent to retire?

i knew kanye west was going to sell more albums than 50 cent. but im glad that 50 cent is not going to retire because i like his music =]

Well, I'm late but I just had to add my two cents..... well actually its more like 50 cents............

you'll see....





I am a 50 cent fan and I have been since 'Get rich, die tryin''. But truth be told, 50 has used up his rapping dictionary and his lyrics are no longer as potent and credible as they were. When 50 first hit it big, his success mostly came from the buisness he received from SUBURBIAN listeners.After this demographic witnessed the uprising of heavyweight Marshall Mathers, Aka 'Eminem/Slim Shady', a lot of suburban listeners began to take interest to rap, feeling it wasn't just a black mans world anymore. I believe the only reason 50 cent was so succesful was due to The Aftermath.Shady aftermath, that is. With the newly acquired white audience, and backing from dre and eminem, 50 had already caught fire. His pilot? a resume of being shot 9 times and the smash hit, 'Wanksta'. That combination alone turned the music industry's head towards this mumbling rapper.But enough background info, let's get to my main point... Kanye west......I hate to say it... Is a glorified pop artist.

When people think of rap,gangs and violence often are the first thoughts that pop into there heads. When I think of kanye, I think of College and MTV. Nothing really gangster or violent about either of those (Disregarding the whole Virginia tech incident of course..). kanye's style is unique I admit. SO unique, I believe it deserves its own genre: 'Pop Rap'.Kanye sold more albums than 50 becuase 50 didn't die right after he made GRDT.. Think about it, all these so called hip hop greats have either died or retired. 50 cent is in his fade out while kanyes just beginning to really blow up. and when you look at it this way, losing by only 200,000 is really REALLY good. For someone who didn't die while they were on top (See Tupac, Notorious B.I.G..Etc...) Curts done a very good job at taking a long time to fade out. So next time you bad mouth 50, think of how wed worship him if wouldve died after GRDT.
