I knew he wouldn't keep his promise, but I was really looking forward to seeing 50 retire. He's gotten really lame since he started out, and what's with every one of his songs that does make the radio sounding like he took the hook for 'Candy Shop' and 'Magic Stick' and just changed the words?

Here is why Kanye is winning - the guy has more to talk about than 50 Cent, simple. People are getting tired of the same old sex jazz and bling bling crap rap! 'Just slide your panties to the side', who couldn't come up with stupid lyrics like that. Though Kanye can be labelled 'mainstream', some of his music at least conscience has a touch of conscientiousness to it.
50 Cent was a terrible artist with no meaningful content in his tracks from the beginning. He will be doing everyone a favor by quitting. I am reminded of when Mace left the scene (that guy sucked).

Hey enlightened you couldnt be more wrong. Kanye may have a lot to say...but it damn sure is concious. I'd say about 90% of the words that come out of Kanye's mouth are fundamentally wrong. 50 on the other hand...says a lot of things most wont recognize as real knowledge but its there. read the lyrics on a deeper level. Not to mention Kanye has a plain and Dr. Suess type of flow.

Oh and one other thing. 50 on the mix tape scene has put down some really hot music over the last year or two. I could easily assembly a record 10x hotter than Curtis just from those efforts. None of it would ever get the pass of suites at interscope or make radio play.

Honestly making an incredible album (the way hip hop used to be) won't get sales these days. It just won't. I can name dozens of artists that 98% of the public have never heard of because they are doing it real.

I am a 50 cent fan and I have been since 'Get rich, die tryin''. But truth be told, 50 has used up his rapping dictionary and his lyrics are no longer as potent and credible as they were. When 50 first hit it big, his success mostly came from the buisness he received from SUBURBIAN listeners.After this demographic witnessed the uprising of heavyweight Marshall Mathers, Aka 'Eminem/Slim Shady', a lot of suburban listeners began to take interest to rap, feeling it wasn't just a black mans world anymore. I believe the only reason 50 cent was so succesful was due to The Aftermath.Shady aftermath, that is. With the newly acquired white audience, and backing from dre and eminem, 50 had already caught fire. His pilot? a resume of being shot 9 times and the smash hit, 'Wanksta'. That combination alone turned the music industry's head towards this mumbling rapper.But enough background info, let's get to my main point... Kanye west......I hate to say it... Is a glorified pop artist.

Nothing really gangster or violent about either of those (Disregarding the whole Virginia tech incident of course..). kanye's style is unique I admit. SO unique, I believe it deserves its own genre: 'Pop Rap'.Kanye sold more albums than 50 becuase 50 didn't die right after he made GRDT.. Think about it, all these so called hip hop greats have either died or retired. 50 cent is in his fade out while kanyes just beginning to really blow up. and when you look at it this way, losing by only 200,000 is really REALLY good. For someone who didn't die while they were on top (See Tupac, Notorious B.I.G..Etc...) Curts done a very good job at taking a long time to fade out.
