Britney Spears' new single could debut next week.
The new track is not the recently leaked ballad, 'Baby Boy', but an up-tempo dance track called 'Gimme More' produced by Timbaland protégé Nate 'Danjahandz' Hills.
A source, who claims the song will be released in September, said: "People are going to love this new track. It is a whole new funky dance sound."
'Gimme More' was the reported working title of the music video Britney filmed in July.
Another source who has heard the track said: "This is going to be a huge hit. Britney will come back with a bang."
Insiders say Britney already has "more than enough material" for her fifth studio album, and is planning to surprise fans with a comeback by releasing it this autumn with no promotional build-up.
Britney - who is currently facing a bitter custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline for sons Sean Preston, 23-months, and Jayden James, 11-months - also worked with other producers, including J.R. Rotem, on her new material.
A third source revealed: "The album still has no official title or release date and is being kept top-secret. But Britney is planning to shock everyone by letting it hit the shelves this autumn."

Why would anyone want to buy anything this wreck is involved with?
Listened to the song, liked it, but refuse to buy any thing she is involved in. That girl needs to get her life together and stop thinking about her career and start thinking about her kids. Its amazing to me that her fans don't say: Brit, we are behind you, but get it together and come back as someone positive. I believe that her fans WILL still be there for her AFTER she straightens out her life. Its a sad sad world that she is soooo concerned about a 'comeback' and not so concerned about the way she is trashing herself in the public eye. The only way she could truly 'shock' us is if she came out wearing something tasteful. She needs to lay low and be a mother. Fans will love her even more for taking the time to love herself and those kids. And there she is, still hanging it out there for the world to see.
The new album is called Antichrist Superstar.
Let's see how good she is without all the background enhancements - not very good I imagine. Don't feel too sorry for this trainwreck - she loves the spotlight and publicity - good or bad - according to all indications.
I predict a big flop, except with the diaper slut crowd...

Brit's right, she does need more as in more judgement as to what a good come back single is. Gimme More is mediocre. I'll admit though I am excited to see her dance and lip-synch to it! She has awesome stage presence!
Excellent sounds like alot whats out there the moment,meaning she was clever enough not release something that would alienate her fans even more and get them back on track as well as herself and giving her a good foundation for future tracks off the album just remember me against the music wasnt the hit toxic turned out to be can't wait for song 2.To all you haters like it or not this song is going to sell,sell,sell there ain't such a thing as bad publicity!
There is the official, exclusive remix to Britney Spears' single 'Gimme (Give me) More' featuring hip-hop/rap group Audio Imagery. Rumor has it that this may appear as a bonus track on her album when it is released in November.
Audio Imagery's claim to recent fame is their collaboration with J-Lo on her single 'Do It Well' which was released mid August 2007.
