Madonna's preview of her new song has allegedly flopped.
Partygoers at the 'Pop Rocks' party at New York's Club 13 cheered when it was announced they would hear an advanced copy of the new Madonna track from her forthcoming album, but were disappointed, claiming it was too similar to Britney Spears' 'Slave 4 U'.
A source said of the song which was produced by Pharrell Williams: "Everyone cheered and was excited, but when it started playing, few were dancing."
The source added to the New York Post newspaper: "The song sounds almost exactly like Britney's 'Slave 4 U' which Pharrell also produced. The response was tepid at best. They need to go back to the drawing board with that one."
Meanwhile, the 49-year-old singer will be visited by a Malawi court-appointed official next month to assess whether she and husband Guy Richie are suitable parents for David Banda.
Madonna is seeking to adopt the 23-month-old boy she fostered from a Malawi orphanage last October.
Malawi official Penstone Kilembe - who had previously been refused permission to travel to Britain - announced yesterday (27.08.07): "There has been a change of mind by my government minister and she has allowed me to leave for the UK on September 4 and I am expected to spend two weeks."
