Lisa Marie Presley received a standing ovation at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis 16th August 1997 when she sang 'Don't Cry Daddy' with a video image of her father on giant screens.
'In The Ghetto' was a huge hit for Elvis Presley, a song chosen by the British Ambassador to Ireland as her choice of Elvis songs on a radio show some years back.
Decades come and go and here we are still commemorating Elvis Presley because of his wonderful versatile, and exciting voice. At it's best, the finest ever heard in popular music.
I have seen both videos, and I have to say that 'In the Ghetto' though very well done is a bit disturbing with the infants handling guns.... For me it took away the magic of Elvis and Lisa Marie singing together, It was such a shock to see that that I wasn't listening to the song anymore, and I understand the concept of the song but I bet if Elvis were still around theres no way he would allow that.
Now the other duet 'Dont cry daddy' Oh My Gosh. I grew up on Elvis music because of my Mom, and that video (a not so good version shot by some amatuer fan who probably snuck the camera in) brings me to tears every time.
Lisa Marie needs to make 'Dont cry daddy' commercially available to the public, sell it as a single cause I will definately buy it.
If anyone else agrees let someone know who may know someone who may know Lisa Marie, so she gets the message. Don't deprive the public of such a beautiful piece of visual and musical artistry.
