Record breakers Oasis

Aug 14, 2007, 7:00 GMT

Noel and Liam Gallagher have been asked to join in a world record breaking attempt - to unite every Gallagher in the world.

The Oasis stars have been given an open invite by organisers of 'The Gallagher Clan Global Gathering' to attend the event which aims to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for 'The Largest Same Name Gathering'.

The unusual record attempt will take place in County Donegal, Ireland, where the Gallagher clan can be traced.

Every Gallagher in the world has been invited to the event, which will take place on September 9, and organisers are hopeful thousands of namesakes will attend.

Meanwhile, Oasis have announced they are releasing their new tour documentary in October.

Two-disc DVD 'Lord Don't Slow Me Down' was filmed during the band's 2005/2006 world tour, and features a feature-length documentary - which was shown in selected cinemas last year - a fan Q+A session with Noel shot in New York and footage of Oasis' Manchester homecoming show at Manchester City's Eastlands Stadium.

The film was shot by Baillie Walsh who has previously worked with Massive Attack, New Order and Kylie Minogue.

The group's spokesperson said: "Walsh follows one of the world's biggest bands on a year-long world tour, is granted unique access to that band and is present for the ups and downs and the moments of greatness."

Oasis have also announced their new album, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 'Don't Believe The Truth', will be released in 2008.
