Rumors proved to be true as Van Halen announced a 25-concert arena tour with original lead singer David Lee Roth. The tour will kickoff on Sept. 27 in Charlotte, N.C.
Alex Van Halen (L), David Lee Roth (2-L), Eddie Van Halen (2-R) and Wolfgang Van Halen (R) of US rock band Van Halen smile during a press conference announcing Van Halen's first national tour in 22 years in Los Angeles, California, USA, 13 August 2007. Van Halen will tour with all its original members except for bassist Anthony Michael who has been replaced by Eddie Van Halen's 16-year-old son, Wolfgang. EPA/SEAN MASTERSON
The Van Halen line-up will feature Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Wolfgang Van Halen on bass – who has replaced Michael Anthony in the band’s line-up.
Van Halen, with Roth, held a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel – which also featured Roth taking center stage as the band’s frontman.
Roth told members of the press fans should be prepared to “meet the band in the future not the pasture.” He also described the Van Halen line-up as “a brother team.”
He also stated: “It's not like the Police - we're not going to do one tour.”
Roth also gave the press a hint at what kind of material will be performed at the shows. He said “It's all the songs you have been hearing blasting out of the backs of pickup trucks at Burger King over the last 20 summers.”
The band was set to hit the road with Roth for a tour earlier this summer, but the plans were put on hold following Eddie Van Halen’s rehab stint in March. The three original members also missed the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later that month.
Former lead singer Sammy Hagar and former bassist Michael Anthony were at the Hall of Fame ceremony to accept the honor, and Velvet Revolver took to the stage to play some of the band’s hits.
Tickets for select dates go on sale beginning Saturday, August 18th (10am local time).

Too little too late. Too many times VH said 'we are gonna tour'only to back out. I predict the tour is cancelled due to 'slow ticket sales' (yawn)

I checked out the VH website. They are using the old VH symbols, pictures of the guitars, amps, and stage and songs from 1978....when the band ruled. Too little. Too late. Not even if they gave me a free ticket in the 20th row. And I WAS the biggest fan.
