Justin and Beyonce own the MTV nomination

With seven nominations each, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce were at the head of the pack when the nominations for the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards were announced on Tuesday. The two performers were followed by rapper Kanye West and Barbados R&B princess Rihanna – who received five nominations each.
Timberlake and Beyonce were nominated for video of the year – which also saw nominations awarded to British singer Amy Winehouse, and Rihanna.
MTV President Christina Norman stated: “What great nominees! They truly reflect a stellar year in music and videos.”
Timberlake is joined in the best male artist category by West, Akon, rapper T.I. and singer Robin Thicke. Beyonce is joined in the best female artist category by Winehouse, Rihanna, Fergie and Nelly Furtado.
The best new artist award featured Winehouse and rival Lily Allen, Carrie Underwood, Gym Class Heroes and Peter Bjorn & John. Best group award featured Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Maroon 5, Linkin Park and White Stripes.
