Alicia Keys claims recording her new album saved her life.
The singer says she has managed to find inner peace through music after a turbulent year.
Alicia said: "I needed this music more than it needed me.
"This year's been a rollercoaster but, as down as I've been, I've learned so much.
"I found beauty during the dark times."
The 27-year-old star, whose new album 'As I Am' is due out in November, recently revealed she fears she will never have an honest relationship, because she struggles with her emotions.
Alicia said: "Even when you find a person you trust I don't think you can be completely honest, ever. There are still pieces of you that you don't give away. I believe you always need that place where it's just you, your thoughts, and no one else's judgement of anything."
