Country singer Mindy McCready is faced with legal trouble again. The singer was arrested early Saturday (July 21) morning, in Florida, and charged with battery and resisting arrest.

McCready, 31, was released on $1,000 bail and has been scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 14th. She was arrested for an alleged assault on her mother.
The altercation reportedly happened when the singer returned to her mother’s North Fort Myers home, and was intoxicated, according to information from Lee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Larry King.
King stated McCready’s mother (who called 911 around 1 a.m. to report her daughter) had visible evidence of an assault – which led officers to arrest McCready. King has explained Florida law requires police to arrest the primary aggressor in an assault case, and McCready was considered the primary aggressor in the incident.
McCready arrived on the country music scene in the 90s with hits like “Guys Do It All the Time.” The singer has faced legal problems for the past several years - such as a 2004 conviction for fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs.
