Downtown/Atlantic recording artist Kevin Michael has announced a series of tour dates surrounding the upcoming release of his self-titled debut album - which features the breakthrough first single, "It Don't Make Any Difference To Me (Feat. Wyclef Jean)" and arrives in stores on September 18th.
Named one of mtvU's "Freshman 5" new artists of the summer, Michael will herald the album's release by joining British pop heroine Lily Allen for a number of shows, kicking off on September 6th at San Diego's House of Blues (see attached itinerary). In October, the singer/songwriter, who is based in Chester, PA (outside of Philadelphia), will accompany Maroon 5 on their eagerly anticipated fall arena tour, with dates beginning on October 15th at Boston's TD Bank North Garden.
‘Kevin Michael’ is a “stunning statement of purpose” from a remarkably talented young musician, a phenomenal collection that extends the long creative tradition of R&B by imagining it anew.
Michael's irresistible blend of classic soul, funk, pop, and R&B - featured on tracks like the soaring "If I Ain't Got You" and the anthemic "We All Want The Same Thing" - conjures up greats from the past while also bringing something totally new to the game. The album follows Michael's debut release, the iTunes exclusive EP, ‘YA DIG?’
Michael is shaping up as a true online sensation, logging over 1.5 million streams at his official MySpace page, located at www.myspace.com/kevinmichaelmusic . In May, he joined Maroon 5 for a packed MySpace Secret Show at San Diego's Epicentre. In addition, MySpace recently named "We All Want The Same Thing (Feat. Lupe Fiasco)" as its "Single of the Week." The track - a powerful expression of Michael's biracial roots and heritage - is also featured in a national Verizon ad campaign.
