Kylie Minogue will become the first woman to receive the prestigious Music Industry Trusts' award.
The Australian singer is set to join the likes of Sir Elton John and The Beatles producer Sir George Martin and be acknowledged for her contribution to the music industry.
Kylie said: "It is an incredible honour to be the recipient of this year's award and I am truly thrilled to be recognised in this way."
The 38-year-old star will collect her award at a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House on October 29.
David Munn, Chairman of the Awards Committee, said: "Kylie deserves this award for her success over 20 years, staying at the top in one of the toughest professions and inspiring millions with her grace, dignity and humanity."
Kylie launched her pop career in 1988 with the worldwide hit 'I Should Be So Lucky' and has since sold over 40 millions albums and 50 millions singles worldwide.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 but returned to the pop scene in November last year with a sell-out Sydney concert.
Last week, it was reported 10 demos from her upcoming studio album had been leaked on to the internet.

What a joke. She does not deserve this. her sales are pitiful for 20 years in music.Half of those years she was invisible. She neither writes music plays instruments nor pens her own lyrics ( such as they are la la la) Every album is the necessary result of 15 'collaborations' as she is unable to do any of it alone. Her 'influence' on 'music' is zip nada and zilch. She is a manufactured industrialist pop /beat box machine. To even have her name along with Paul McCartney is an insult to music industry . Another sympathy win because she had cancer briefly. This is disingenuous at its very very worst. Her 'looks' such as they are ( unremarkable really ) are irrelevant, she is a 'singer' and the award is supposed to be about serious music input..not fluff ball bimbo pin up attempts that have nothing to do with music.
When will UK pulp media have done with this woman who was barely noticed outside her small fan base until her 'sickness'.
