President Bush took some time on Wednesday to meet with U2’s Bono, music producer Bob Geldof and Senegalese singer Youssou N'Dour. The meeting took place before Bush joined other world leaders for the G-8 summit.
Bono, known for his anti-poverty campaign and other activist causes, is at the event to join others in an attempt to get world leaders to fulfill commitments to increase the aid to poorer countries. Bush was seen talking to one of his aides and stating: "Where's Bono? Bono for president."
The singer has also pitched his campaign to leaders in Washington. During the 2006 National Prayer Breakfast, Bono addressed Bush and members of Congress concerning world poverty. Following the event, Bush stated Bono was a "doer" and an "amazing guy."
