Rihanna's Umbrella battle

Rihanna battled Mary J. Blige to record her worldwide hit 'Umbrella'.
The 19-year-old singer loved the song as soon as she heard it but was devastated when she heard Blige wanted it as well.
So, Rihanna used all her charm to convince the songwriters to give it to her.
Rihanna told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "Any songwriter would die for Mary to sing one of their songs. So I just prayed that I got it. It was perfect for me - it had a West Indian groove.
"When I saw one of the songwriters at the Grammy Awards, I went up to him and said, 'Listen, 'Umbrella' is my song.'
"He must have thought I was really pushy and laughed it off. But I held his face and I turned it back to my own, 'No, I'm serious, I need 'Umbrella'.
"Two days later we found out the song was mine."

Who cares? Honestly, if Mary wanted the track clearly she could have had it. I guess she really didn't want it. The track isn't really a Mary track. The producer probably wanted Mary to have it.
The song and the singer is horrible. A-A-A-A-A...WTF??? Get oughta here with that crap.

I watched Rhianna perform at the MTV movie awards and she still needs to work on her singing and dancing. She has a lot of work to do to even begin to talk about Mary J. Blige who's a professional in the business and can give her singing lessons. I get annoyed by Rhianna's voice and she really has got to step up her game. In other countries she gets booed on stage.
this is crazy. That song is horrible and to amature for Mary. Rihanna, you arent a star. Mary has waaaayyyy too much over you, and if she wanted it, she couldve had it. I think she had pity on you and knew u needed somethin so people can know ur name again.
Rhianna is sleeping around trying her hardest to get to the top. The question is whether she slept with that producer in order to beg him for that whack song that Mary had no interest in. Rhianna has to realize she is new to the game and the professionals are the ones she's trying her hardest to compete with but she sucks. Musically she aint ready and them wigs gotta go. That hair style (wig) is old school.
Umbrella is not even Mary's style. The song was perfect for Rihanna. Mary would have sounded wack.
BTW...the song is HOT for those who don't know. It has topped the charts! So you WILL be hearing it for a while.

She did not say anything bad about Mary, if anything she new she had to work hard for the song c/ Mary has 15 years on her. I mean she wanted the song so? Remember Mary could hardly sing when she came out. Give the girl a chance haters- You can't compare the two clearly Mary has earned her way.
'Umbrella' is hott and is definitely the #1 song right about now!! I'll admit, the song had to grow on me. Not because I was not totally feeling the lyrics and the hooks. But, truth be told, Rihanna does not have the most melodic tone to her voice. But once I saw her new image, that hott ta death video, I was hooked!! Rihanna's right, what song writer wouldn't want MJB to throw down on their song, but whatever the deciding factors were, I'm glad it was Rihanna. LOVE MJB, but I don't think we would've had Jay spit the opening bars if Mary was the one putting it down instead of Rihanna, and that alone would give the song a completely different vibe. Rihanna, do your thang mami!!

Man the music industry sucks I guess we are going to have to look and hear that gremiln 'Diarihanna' aka Rihanna for the next few years. She makes me want to listen to Heavy Metal and Goth music. :P
Considering rhianna's new 2 the game i think she's doing really well she has good voice!!
