Rapper Kanye West and British music icon Rod Stewart have signed up to take part in the July 1st concert being held to honor the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death. The two join a growing list of scheduled performers including Lily Allen, The Feeling, James Morrison, Elton John, Duran Duran, Joss Stone, and Pharrell Williams.
The event is being organized by princes William and Harry (who is scheduled to leave for Iraq to serve in the army) and will be held at London's Wembley stadium. It is believed that Harry will be allowed to return from Iraq for the event.
The event, which is being held on what would have been Diana’s 46th birthday, has seen strong ticket sales with the first batch (22,500 tickets) in December, 2006, being sold out in 17 minutes. Another 10,000 tickets will be made available via the concert’s website on Friday. The event is being held days before the scheduled Live Earth global concert that will see music stars such as Madonna, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Spinal Tap and the Black Eyed Peas, taking to the stage to raise awareness on global warming.
The Concert for Diana will be broadcast in 140 countries and will also feature performances by the English National Ballet and a medley of musicals by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
