Oasis hiatus
Apr 13, 2007, 7:00 GMT
Noel Gallagher says there will be no new Oasis album this year.
The rocker has no intention of rushing out the band's seventh studio album and is looking forward to having some time to look after his pregnant girlfriend Sara MacDonald and prepare for the birth of their child.
He said: "It definitely won't be this year, although I think it might get started."
Oasis currently have no record deal after fulfilling their obligations with Sony, and Noel plans to offer the finished LP to the highest bidder rather than get locked into another long-term contract.
The 39-year-old musician explained: "I'm quite enjoying not having a record deal at the moment. I'd rather make the album, get it finished, then go round to record labels instead of some label hotshot going, 'You know what I always thought you guys should sound like?' What?! And so on. I'd rather get it all finished before anyone else gets involved."
