Stupid Oasis

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has slammed Oasis for making "stupidity hip". Kele launched into the scathing attack in response to Liam Gallagher's comments that Bloc Party looked like a band off "'University Challenge'", reigniting their long-running feud. Kele told Uncut magazine: "I think Oasis are the most overrated band of all time. They had a totally negative impact upon the state of British music. They have made stupidity hip. "They claim to be inspired by The Beatles but - and this so saddens me - they have failed to grasp that The Beatles were about constant change and evolution. Oasis are repetitive Luddites." Kele said Liam's "university" comment "would have been a lot funnier had he not used exactly the same words to describe Travis a couple of years ago". The 25-year-old singer studied English Literature at London's King's College, while Liam has no qualifications and claims to have only read his first book in 2005. Kele also hit out at the public's reaction to photographs of Kate Moss allegedly snorting cocaine in 2005. He said: "Can there be anyone out there who has never had a line? Everyone I know has done it. But for me it's bad news because that drug can really damage your voice. The drug I enjoy taking is ecstasy."(C) BANG Media International

Good for Kele! He's right, oasis get far greater loyalty and respect than they deserve. At least Bloc Party have an original sound and continue to change it. Not too sure about the exctasy comment tho...

Couldn't agree more with Kele about Oasis. They are tossers. Definitely Maybe was a great album, but nothing they've produced since has been as good, and certainly not as original. The only real genius to emerge from Britpop was Damon Albarn.
