Stone's album was on sale at most outlets for half price..a cheap way to get a hit
Its time for the media to stop the fawning over Stone,who can sing certainly,but is merely another in a list of commercial puppets.
Now is the time to remember those trailblazers who came before her,who's influence on the US/UK SOUL CROSSOVER was so great,it has yet to be duplicated.
The honour of being the main female to break the USA in the soul genre has to be SADE
Sade released 6 albums in USA all of which hit the Billboard top 10,inc a #1 with Promise,she also gained #1's on the singles chart
She sold over 20 million albums in USA alone,and 50 million worldwide,during a time when the soul/rnb/jazz genre was not the huge moneymaking scheme it is now!! Also at a time when an artist had to sell a million to go platinum.
Sade did this with a sound/style/look/class so unique it has yet to be duplicated.She also had a sound tht she refused to comprimise in a bid for commercial success.
She is the lady who did not need gimmicks for u to feel her soul,she is like poetry
She is also to this day,the female that almost every rap/rnb star lists as an influence/wish to sing with
Her place in history was well earned,she is a pioneer for uk music scene,Stone is just another comercial fad
