G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo has pleaded not guilty in criminal court following accusations from police that he slapped and punched a 14-year-old boy. He was released on $5,000 bail after he entered his plea at his arraignment in a Manhattan court on Sunday.
Yayo (whose real name is Marvin Bernard, 28) has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. Authorities have alleged that the rapper pushed and slapped the boy – which resulting in the boy having pain in the ear and face.
"We adamantly deny the allegations set forth by the people today," said Yayo's defense attorney Scott Leemon.
Yayo is a member of the hip-hop/rap super group G-Unit- which also includes rappers 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Young Buck. 50 Cent was said to be not be in New York when the incident allegedly happened. Yayo reportedly turned himself into authorities on Saturday when he returned from a concert in Africa. The rapper has a $4 million home in Farmington, Conn. – which is about 110 miles from New York.
