The Stones to roll through Europe this summer
By M&C News Mar 22, 2007, 22:09 GMT
Rock music icons The Rolling Stones have announced plans for a 27-date European tour this summer – which includes a headline stop at Britain's Isle of Wight Festival.
The Stones’ tour will kick off on June 5th in Werchter, Belgium and will end on Aug. 21 at London's Millennium Dome – which was re-branded the O2 Arena. The tour will also feature dates in Paris, Rome, St. Petersburg, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Dublin.
The band’s performance at the Isle of Wight Festival will be on June 10th and it will be the first British festival The Rolling Stones have played in more than 30 years.
The band’s “Bigger Bang” tour in 2006 was plagued with delays and cancellations due to a number of reasons – such as Keith Richards’ head injury in April, and Mick Jagger’s laryngitis in August.
The band still managed to have the top-grossing tour of 2006 with $138.5 million in sales. There has been no word if more dates are expected to be added after the Aug. 21st show or if the Stones will take the tour to the U.S.
