The members from the pop band The Drifters were involved in a serious car crash on their way back from a concert in northern England. The accident happened as the band’s car hit another vehicle that had swerved on the road to avoid an animal. It happened on the M1 motorway by Sheffield in the early morning hours on Monday.
All of the band’s members (Peter Lamarr, Victor Bynoe, Rohan Turney and Patrick Alan) were taken to hospital. Alan suffered a head injury and is still being treated, but the others were allowed to return to London. Turney dislocated his shoulder in the accident.
The band’s hits include "Under The Boardwalk" and "Saturday Night At The Movies" and they were formed in 1953. The band’s line-up has continued to change since then, and they are the longest running group in pop history to still be touring.
