George Michael facing new drug charge
By M&C News Mar 7, 2007, 14:08 GMT

It looks like pop singer George Michael’s court problems have just increased thanks to a new charge being added to his arrest last October in north London. Prosecutors have amended his original charges and he is now facing a charge of driving while unfit through drugs.
Michael (who was originally charged with being unfit to drive through drugs) was arrested after he was discovered slumped over his car steering wheel in an intersection on Oct. 1st, 2006. Prosecutor Andrew Torrington appeared before the Brent Magistrates Court to amend the charge, and Michael, 43, was not present in the courtroom. There is still not a date for when the actual trial will begin.
The singer is set to be the first performer to play a concert in the new Wembley Stadium with a show scheduled for June 9th as part of Michael's British and European Stadium tour. The show will be another of Michael’s memorable concerts at the stadium – which includes performances during Live Aid in 1985, Wham's farewell concert in 1986, the Nelson Mandela concert in 1998 and the Freddie Mercury tribute concert in 1992.
