Rock stars unite for worldwide concerts to raise awareness on global warming

A wide spectrum of musicians, ranging from Sheryl Crow and Kelly Clarkson to Korn and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, will join forces in an effort to raise awareness on global warming through a string of worldwide concerts in July that are being organized by environmental activists and led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore.

Gore announced on Thursday that on July 7th, “The Live Earth” concerts will be held in Shanghai, Sydney, Johannesburg, and London. In addition, the concerts will also take place in cities in Brazil, Japan and the United States. There is also a concert planned in Antarctica. "The climate crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement. We hope to jump-start that movement right here, right now, and take it to a new level on July 7, 2007," Gore said.The series of concerts will feature more than 100 of the music industries biggest names in a variety of genres. Already committed to playing are Korn, Sheryl Crow, Kelly Clarkson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and rapper Snoop Dogg.Along with a new campaign called Save Our Selves (SOS), the organizers of the event have said the concerts are an attempt to reach a global audience through concert attendance as well as radio, television and the Internet."In order to solve the climate crisis, we have to reach billions of people," Gore said in a statement. "We are launching SOS and Live Earth to begin a process of communication that will mobilize people all over the world to take action.”The concerts are set to follow in the same style as the 1985 Live Aid and 2005 Live8 events that were organized by Irish musician Bob Geldof.

Whate a great idea!! it sould be better if the concerts were in spain, lol! and it's my bday! :) I love it when artists do this kind of things, what a fantastic way to use their popularity!!
