Rage Against the Machine might return for a single performance
By M&C News Jan 22, 2007, 15:38 GMT
After a seven-year split, hard rockers Rage Against the Machine might be taking the stage together one more time at a southern California rock festival scheduled for April.
A Sunday article posted in the Los Angeles Times reported the band (which made a name for itself from hard guitar riffs and politically fueled lyrics) is looking to play at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, but quoted unspecified sources for providing the information. The festival is scheduled for three days kicking off on April 27th.
The desert festival will take place over three days beginning April 27, about 130 miles east of Los Angeles. The article also stated fellow rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers and alt-rock diva Bjork will take the stage at the festival. The official lineup for the festival has yet to be announced, but is expected sometime this week.
Rage Against the Machine burst onto the music scene with the smash single “Killing in the Name” and with a sound that blended singer Zack de la Rocha's rap lyrics with the band’s blistering guitar solos. Following reported fighting within the band, de la Rocha split from the band in 2000.
The remaining members (guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk) went on to find new success with the rock band Audioslave – which featured former Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell.

Yeah please lets see AudioSlave, they're soo much better and sooo much more meaningful than Rage ever was.....
Good God.
audioslave is much worse than rage so all you haters should shut your mouths cuz this is a special event. soundgarden is on par with those whiny pearl jam morons so you should appreciate the actual appearance of a legendary act undone by de la rocha whos still pretty qwerty.
How time flies. I can't believe RATM broke up seven years ago.
cm you cant be serious? have you ever listened to tom morello while he was in rage?

I almost hope this is wrong. I would be much happier to hear that AudioSlave was performing. and WAY MORE EXCITED to hear that Sound Garden was getting back together.
Rage imploded as their sense of righteousness turned into self reighteousness and we don't need any more of that. Lectures from rock stars are bad enough, but the rantings of a millionaires dressed up like commuists are a little bit hard to swallow. Zack at least had the self respect to go off and do the work.
