Joss Stone's mum's music academy
Dec 12, 2006, 13:40 GMT
Joss Stone's mother is converting her Devon home into a music academy.
Wendy Joseph - who works as a record company talent scout - and Joss' stepfather and musical director Jonathan want to use their knowledge of the music business to help aspiring youngsters follow in their successful daughter's footsteps.
Wendy told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "We've had so many calls and we know there's talent out there. When Joss was starting out we didn't know what to do so we hope the academy will support parents and encourage musicians."
Wendy and Jonathan are planning to hold the first auditions at the academy - which will be called Mama Stone's - in January next year.
The hopefuls will then attend a number of different four-day courses, on which they will learn songwriting skills and how to record their own tracks.
Wendy - who has co-written several of her Grammy award-winning daughter's hits - says Joss has pledged the project her full support.
She said: "Joss is very excited and I'm sure she will pop in often when she's home."

Brillant idea but they are not alone ,I have been doing this for over 8 years now and have cheerned out some good singers out on the cuircuit. Its called Legend Singers club, where we teach persons from the age of 10 years up all the aspects of entertainment world .Mainly gaining confidence in front of people, singing tuition and exsperience with the equipment and set up.Its all done by proffesional singers like my self and others with a £1-00 charge for 2 nights a week and all the money goes into a non-profit account and is used to promote the club and put on shows. All staff are voluntiers. If they need any help or advice,as we have been through most of the pitfalls in the past 8 years. Its good to see someone else saying there is alot of hidden talent out there and it needs bring out.
