Pop star Stacie Orrico breaks new ground in R&B world
By Patrick Luce Dec 1, 2006, 15:59 GMT

More and more pop artists are stepping into the R&B world and releasing soulful and seductive albums in hopes of reaching a wider audience. In 2006 Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera both did it, and in 2007 Stacie Orrico will also cross over with her new album ‘Beautiful Awakenings’ available January 16th.
Stacie Orrico started her career in her local church choir, following in the footsteps of many great R&B superstars. Her sound on this new album is soulful, mature and sexy. The new album creates an “old-school jazz club” atmosphere that can best be compared to Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and recently Christina Aguilera.
Stacie shot up the charts back in 2003; her self-titled album spun two top 10 singles and sold over 3 million copies. Her dazzling voice and a rare maturity enabled her to walk away from a remarkable career three years ago to rediscover who she was and what, and whom, really mattered to her.
Stacie Orrico’s new R&B-powered single “I’m Not Missing You” tells the story of that journey, which has landed her where she is today: in control of her life and career for the first time.
